Furniture illustration system

Illustration, Graphic Design, Branding

A collection of illustrations created for a digital platform in the furniture sector. The project involved developing a large and diverse library of furniture illustrations designed to work together as part of a consistent visual system.

Due to the confidential nature of the project, further information about the platform and brand is not currently available. The case study focuses exclusively on the illustration work and the visual system developed for the collection.

From individual objects to a visual system

Rather than treating each piece of furniture as an isolated illustration, the collection was developed as a visual system. I studied the main characteristics of each object and translated them into a simplified illustrated language, keeping the elements that made each piece recognisable while removing unnecessary visual information.

This approach allowed very different objects — from larger pieces of furniture to smaller decorative elements — to coexist within the same collection.

A flexible illustration style

The illustrations were designed to remain clear and readable at different sizes and in different digital contexts. The visual language combines clean outlines, simplified shapes and subtle tonal details, creating enough depth to describe each object without making the illustrations feel overly complex.

Particular attention was given to:

  • Consistent line weight
  • Proportions and perspective
  • Simplification of furniture details
  • Repetition of visual elements
  • A restrained colour approach
  • Clear silhouettes and recognisable forms

Building the collection

The work involved creating a large number of individual illustrations while continuously checking them against the overall collection.

As the library grew, each new object was developed in relation to the existing illustrations. This helped maintain consistency across different types of furniture and ensured that the collection felt designed as a whole rather than assembled piece by piece.

A visual library for a digital experience

The final result is a flexible illustration library designed to support a digital product while giving its visual communication a distinctive and consistent character.

The collection brings together a wide range of furniture through one unified illustration language, making individual objects easy to recognise while maintaining a strong visual relationship between them.
